Background

Formed in the horse and cart days of 1892, the family business of J W Barrow & Co developed from being general haulage contractors to specialising in bulk liquid transport. In 1974 the company ceased its direct involvement in transport and has concentrated on tanker rentals and contract hire. We have over 40 years experience of handling bulk liquids and, having operated tankers, we understand the problems operators face.

Present Activities

We Specialise in all forms of short and long term tank rental and contract hire. Over a longer term, rentals can be either inclusive of tyres and maintenance or basic hire only. Special rates can be quoted for static storage options.

Equipment Available

All our tankers have stainless steel barrels ranging from 25,000 litres to 32,000 litres. These tanker barrels are mounted on triaxle bogies and are suitable for pump or pressure discharge. Whilst some of the tankers are dedicated to food products and are equipped with in-place cleaning equipment, the majority are general purpose tanks, which are tested and certified to comply with SI 2095 (1996) which governs the carriage of dangerous goods by road tankers. We also have a number of ADR tankers dedicated to carrying chemicals.

Most of the tankers are insulated and have heating coils.

Quality

The company gained accreditation to BS 5750 in 1991 and to ISO 9002 in 1994. Our objectives are to provide our Customers with quality vehicles, a quality service and value for money.

Hiring Alternatives

As previously mentioned the tank trailers can be hired with or without inclusive tyre and maintenance charges. The details are as follows: -

Hire Type ‘A’

This hire category includes all maintenance and repair costs, with the exception of the repair damage resulting from accidents to, or misuse of, the equipment.

It also covers the cost of all tyre replacement due to fair wear and tear but specifically excludes punctures, blowouts and tyre damage.

Hire Type ‘B’

In this category of hire, our customer is responsible for carrying out all routine maintenance and repairs. However, because it would be impractical to replace all components which are subject to normal wear and tear at the commencement of each hire period, we will contribute towards the cost of parts and labour, subject to the formula and conditions set out in the hire agreement. Details available on request.

We will book the annual DoT test at a test station nominated by our customer who will be responsible for the preparation of the hired vehicle for the test. Again, we will contribute to the costs as above.

Charges

Hire charges will vary according to the hire category, the vehicle type and the hire period. The current hire price list is available upon request.

Please ‘phone or fax Paul or Robert for further details, and a quotation for your requirement.
